This Book Changed How I Spend Time & Money 💰

Just came back from a 3-day Melbourne trip spending time offline with a dear friend with lots of food and drinks.

Getting out of the routine once in a while was great.

It’s been almost a year since I last travelled, which meant I put my “work persona” on for so long I forgot how I behaved and relaxed outside work.

I like my disciplined side, but enjoying every moment and having fun is equally important. 🙂

More on how I think of spending time and money later.

Today in 3 minutes or less, you’ll learn:

✔️ Why having some rules are good for you

✔️ Self-fulfilling prophecy

✔️ New perspectives on spending time and money

Doable ideas 💭

Set some rules and boundaries for yourself.

Bedtime, amount of alcohol per week, hours of interaction with people who drain your energy, when to stop working…

Your future self will thank you.

Reflections 🪞

What seemed to be a recurring theme in my year? Why?

Mindfulness 🧘🏻‍♀️

I’ve been thinking about how I spent my time and money very often since I decreased my workload in April.

After reading “Die With Zero”, I adopted a new principle:

Prioritise creating memories.

I would never be 30 year-old again. I might as well optimise every moment and every dollar.

Invest my limited, non-renewable resources on health, and creating memories with my loved ones.

That’s why I got on a random trip to Melbourne to see a friend this week.

That’s why I meet up with my overseas best friends in a new town every year.

I could earn the money back later, but could never hold onto youth or moments spent with others.

Not to mention there’s a certain period you have the capacity to do certain things (e.g. extreme sports).

While my workload reduced, I did not just stay at home and rot.

I was staying active and upskilling, preparing for the next challenge.

No time is truly wasted.

You might not resonate with all the ideas proposed in the book, but your mind will be opened to possibilities.

What do you want to get out of life?

Why don’t you take action now?

How can you spend time and money differently to achieve your goals?

Ideas Worth Pondering 🧠

You have the ability to keep moving through life by committing to small, daily actions,no matter how awful you are feeling. The only way to get some clarity on what to do with your life is to do something and observe the feedback you receive from life.
