Strategies for Real and Fake Procrastination ✅

I’m in a honeymoon-transition phase before starting a new job and travelling.

That means I had more time for myself, more reflection, and more questions about “what is this all for”, and “what is enough”.

So far, the biggest takeaway was that –

It’s okay to change, or abandon your goals.

After reviewing the goals I set for 2024, I decided to change direction.

I have changed. I wanted different things. I had more information, and I made a different decision.

And that’s okay.

How do you feel about changing goals or giving up?

What decisions will help you become your future self faster, and more effectively?

What was your biggest win in the past 7 days? How can you replicate that?

Mindfulness 🧘🏻‍♀️

I recently hit another rut in content creation.

So I started paying attention to the feelings and thoughts around it.

Have you experienced some kind of resistance before you started a task? Whether the task was urgent or important, whether you actually wanted to do it, there was some emotional discomfort involved?

I felt it before I filmed anything, sometimes even before seeing my clients.

Perhaps…

The emotional discomfort before and during tasks means different things.

If resistance presents before you start, what if you told yourself, “just do this for 5 minutes”?

Maybe that’s all you need to get into hyperfocus mode.

Maybe you will instantly tap into your flow state and find joy in your work.

If the emotional discomfort presents after you start doing something, you need another tactic.

Break down the task to smaller, easier pieces, or bring in extra motivation e.g. preferred music and/or beverage.

Change your thoughts, change your feelings, and new behaviours will follow. 🙂

If you feel resistance before you begin, it’s usually procrastination and you need to get started. If you feel resistance after you begin, it’s usually feedback and you need to make adjustments.

Following this realisation, I started exploring new video format and content.

Ideas Worth Pondering 🧠

If you don’t set a baseline standard for what you’ll accept in your life, you’ll find it’s easy to slip into behaviors and attitudes or a quality of life that’s far below what you deserve.
