Today in 3 minutes or less, you’ll learn:
✔️ How to not rely on willpower
✔️ How to prioritise in December
✔️ Why peace is the new luxury in this day and age
Doable ideas 💭
I’m a big fan of designing environments that helps us achieve goals better rather than relying on willpower.
That means never store potato chips at home.
That means never bring laptop in bed.
Create a dedicated workspace that signals “work mode” to your brain.
Create a dim environment that signals “rest mode” to your body.
Make it easy for you.
Reflections 🪞
How can you make sure your time is spent on things that truly matter to you over the next month?
Mindfulness 🧘🏻♀️
I’m learning what is “enough”.
2 months after I doubled my work hours, I only recently started to feel like I was getting used to it.
I grouped all my fortnightly clients on the same Wednesdays, so that every other Wednesday, I have most of the day off.
I designed this schedule to reset, see my parents, go to the beach or catch up on some life admin tasks.
It worked for me.
Providing therapy can be exhausting, and I set rules to protect my sanity.
After randomly meeting my parents for lunch this Wednesday, I was reminded of this conscious decision.
This is enough work hours.
I don’t have to fill up my schedule.
The same applies to our lifestyle standard, house size, or number of friends.
You need to determine what truly brings happiness and satisfaction in life.
Having “enough” is such an underrated concept, as our default is to go for “more” for almost anything.
We never find peace when we’re on the treadmill, chasing for “more”.
And peace is a luxury in this day and age.
This is not sexy.
How peaceful you feel cannot be measured.
There is nothing to show off.
But physically and emotionally, I argue it’s the luxury most of us cannot afford these days.
Ideas Worth Pondering 🧠
“Familiar discomfort” feels the same as “comfort.” Which is why so many people are stuck in “ruts” or absolutely do not want to change even though they know it’s what would be best for them.
