Motivation Hack, Identity and Thought Examination 💭

Hey friends  👋🏻

Here are the Doable ideas, Reflections and Mindfulness to try out this week.

Doable ideas 💭

Change your environment to stimulate creativity and “motivation”.

I sat down in one cafe and two food courts to get this article published in one day.

When no one was holding you accountable and you didn’t technically have to get something done, it can be particularly tricky to be productive.

Setting up little rewards (coffee, in my case) and changing your environment might help.

Same applies to my “real work” – sometimes I found it extremely unmotivating to be around hospital-white walls trying to get my NDIS report done.

You will be surprised how small tweaks bring great impact.

Reflections 🪞

What are your early signs of burnout? How can you refuel way before you actually run out of fuel?

Mindfulness 🧘🏻‍♀️

Examine your thoughts regularly.

Journaling, meditation, spending time alone… toss what’s unhelpful, so you have more headspace for what truly matters.

Ideas Worth Pondering 🧠

“Broaden your interests. It’s nice to have at least one surprising hobby or passion. People find it interesting. In many ways, the part of you that is least expected is more respected.”

From personal experience, it always worked well when I had eggs in different baskets:

🛸 I started learning handpan when I was an accountant

✍🏻 I built my personal website from the ground up when I was a music therapy student

🎥 I posted videos consistently in the past 5 years

🏋🏻‍♀️ I got into boxing, swimming and gymnastics since COVID happened

Some hobbies became my profession; and some improved my health and quality of life in ways I never imagined.

It doesn’t just make life and conversation more interesting, but also protects my sanity:

Don’t identify yourself as just your job title.

You are more than that.

Since change is the only constant in life, there is tremendous risk involved if you tie your whole identity, life and ego to your career.

Who are you? What do you do? 🙂

If you enjoyed that, please share with others.

Whenever you’re ready, there are 2 ways I can help you:

  1. Claim your peace of mind with these handpan guided meditation soundtracks.
  2. Work 1:1 with me to improve your health and wellbeing with music therapy. No waiting list!

Be awesome x
